Tall Trees is a pieced quilt pattern from Mountainpeek Creations™, designed by Kari Nichols. Ten fabrics graded from lightest to darkest are strip-pieced into a soft gradient background, then fusible-web appliqué trees and stems are layered on top to create the tree silhouettes.

60" x 66½" (single size)

Techniques used

• Strip piecing (sewing fabric strips into bands, then subcutting)
• Fusible web appliqué for the trees and stems
• Based on a ¼" seam allowance

Fabric requirements

• ⅜ yd of your lightest fabric
• ½ yd each of 8 fabrics ranging between lightest and darkest
• 2¼ yd of your darkest fabric (narrow strips and border)
• ¼ yd for trees, ⅛ yd for stems
• ⅝ yd binding, 4 yd backing
• 1 yd fusible web
• Twin size cotton batting
