A few years ago I learned a fusible machine appliqué technique which I love. I call it Embellished Appliqué or Decorated Blocks for those who don’t like the A word. I’ve used the technique in several of my patterns and continue to enjoy the design possibilities and the embellishment that it provides. I think it’s an easy way to create wonderfully fun and exciting quilt blocks. Often I use one background color with several contrasting fabrics to make a total of 16 blocks. Then I decide whether to use all the blocks together or use them separately in different projects. This quilt uses all sixteen fish blocks in a diagonal setting with additional strip- pieced blocks in different blue fabrics.
