Falling Stars is a fat quarter friendly pieced quilt pattern from Mountainpeek Creations™, designed by Kari Nichols. Star blocks are made from a main print fat quarter paired with a contrasting star point fabric and a shared background, then set together and framed with an inner and outer border. Each fat quarter yields two blocks, so the fabric list scales cleanly from throw up to king.

Finished sizes

• Throw — 61½" x 73½" (5 main print fat quarters)
• Double — 77½" x 93½" (8 main print fat quarters)
• Queen — 93½" x 113½" (13 main print fat quarters)
• King — 109½" x 113½" (15 main print fat quarters)

Fabric requirements

• Main print — 5 to 15 fat quarters depending on size
• Star points — a matching number of ⅙ yd cuts
• Background — 1½ yds to 4⅓ yds
• Inner border — ⅓ yd to ⅝ yd
• Outer border — 1⅜ yds to 2⅓ yds, or 2 yds to 3 yds if using a directional print
• Plus binding, backing and batting (twin through king)

Good to know

One fat quarter and one ⅙ yd cut are used together with the background fabric to make 2 blocks.
